Virender Sehwag is an Indian cricket commentator and former professional cricketer who is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest opening batsmen to have played the test match format of the sport. He had represented India in 104 test matches, scoring 8,586 runs at a stellar average of 49.34 and a stratospheric strike rate of 82.23. An invaluable member of a formidable Indian squad, across all 3 formats, throughout the 2000s and the early 2010s, he had scored 8273 runs in ODIs, again at a trend-setting strike rate of 104.33. He was an integral member of the Indian squads that had won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 and the inaugural edition of the ICC World T20 in 2007. For his services to cricket, he has been honored with the Arjuna Award (the 2nd-highest sporting honor of India) in 2002 and the Padma Shri (India’s 4th-highest civilian award) in 2010.

  • Virender, as of May 2021, was just one of two cricketers in history, the other being Chris Gayle, to have recorded a score of 200 or more in an ODI match and a score of 300 or more in a Test match.
  • As of May 2021, he was one of just 4 cricketers in history, the others being Don Bradman, Brian Lara, and Chris Gayle, to have scored 2 triple centuries in test cricket.
  • For his performances, he was named the ‘Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World’ in both 2008 and 2009, the first Indian player to achieve that honor. In 2010, he was named the
